TERM ONE STARTS TUESDAY 28TH JANUARY 2020: We will be starting kura on Tuesday 28th January with a powhiri for all new Akonga joining us next year. We ask that all current akonga arrive at kura by 8.30 am in order to set up for this. Akonga are required to be dressed in full Number 1 Uniform for the powhiri.
STATIONERY PACKS: Stationery packs will be available for purchase online from Baigents Office Products by the end of December 2019. For those needing assistance through Work and Income, packs will be available at their store which is located at 21 – 23 Commerce St, Whangarei. The link for the online shop will be put on our Te Kapehu Whetu Teina Face Book page so please keep an eye out for this in the next couple of weeks.
UNIFORMS: Te Kapehu Whetu Teina Polo’s are available to purchase at either at either the Paetata or Paenuku Tari. The remainder of the uniform is available from Bethells Uniform Shop which is located at the Strand Arcade which is located in the Mall. TKW Teina Potae are a compulsory item to be worn during Terms 1 and 4. Payment options are available at Bethells, so please call in and have a chat with Michelle.
TKW Tuakana Uniform will no longer be allowed to be worn. All sand shirts and black cardigans/jackets, will need to be replaced as this is not our uniform. Please ensure that your child is wearing the correct uniform at all times.
Hair, make up and jewellery: All long hair (both girls and boys) must be tied back from the face. Make up and jewellery are not permitted to be worn at kura.
HEALTHY KAI/WAI MAORI: Please respect our kaupapa and only send your tamaiti to kura with healthy lunch options. Please do not send them to kura with NOODLES, PIES, LOLLIES, SWEET SUGARY FOODS AND DRINKS. These will be confiscated and replaced with healthy kai options. Wai Maori is the only drink option available at kura so please ensure that your tamaiti have a clean and named water bottle each day.
CAR PARKING: We ask that whanau to continue to pick their tamariki up after kura from either Bernard St or Tarewa Rd as we will continue to have our walking bus next year. We understand that many of you like to greet your tamariki at their class, so please park on the road and walk down. ONLY PARENTS WHO HAVE CHILDREN AT MOKOPUNA ECE ARE ALLOWED TO DRIVE DOWN THE DRIVEWAY.
